Help! No display!

I just built myself a new computer ('Tis my first build), but I can't seem to get a display coming out. The computer powers on, all the lights work, the fans spin (Case fans, GPU fans, PSU fans, but not the CPU Fan), the DVD drive opens, but nothing shows up on the screen. Help!

Try both GPU outlets (if there is more than one) also try a different vga/dvi cable from the card to the monitor.

Also check that the monitor is plugged in and switched on (you wouldn't be the first).

EDIT: A spec list of your rig would be useful

I'm a bit rusty but make sure the CPU fan is plugged in. All power cables connected, including the 4pin CPU power? If you've a few sticks of memory try replacing them individually one at a time seeing if it boots.

Also to make it easier unplug anything you don't need to post, like HDD's and DVD drives.

MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 Twin FrozR II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX)
OCZ StealthXStream 2 600W Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)
Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless Lite N PCI Express Adapter (TL-WN781N)

I did notice that 4 of the 24-pin connector on the motherboard (There are two connectors - a 20-pin and a 4-pin - for that) had come out since it is very loose, but plugging it in didn't seem to fix anything.

And don't worry, I made sure the monitor was on :P

EDIT: The Intel fan is now spinning, but still no display.

Have you tried using on-board display rather than your graphic card? Also make sure you have the CPU fan power cable snuggly fitted as that will cause problems alone and make sure it is plugged into the correct header on motherboard.

I've checked all the display ports (On-board display has VGA, the two on the GPU I'm using a converter for), I've checked (I think) all the power cables (The 4-pin next to the 20-pin is very loose for some reason), and I've checked the monitor but I still can't see anything.

EDIT: Okay, I'm not sure what I've done (Actually I am - I clicked one of the RAM modules into place, it was sticking out slightly. I also put that annoying 4-pin cable into the motherboard), but it's working now. Thanks for the help, guys! :D

The 4 pin connector usually has a clip on one side to hold it in place. Have you also got power to the 4-pin connector thats in the top-left corner on your motherboard? Its labelled atx_12v.

This doesn't - It slides in and out with little to no effort, and if there's any tug at all on the cable it slips right out. It shouldn't be a problem when I've got it in a stationary position on the floor, but I'd like to know if there's a fix for it.

Not sure what to recommend to keep it in place then. My PSU came with a 24 pin atx rather than 20 + 4.

Have you checked the other 4 pin power I mentioned in top-left corner?

glad you got it working, i was going to suggest you make sure the gpu power is plugged in - never mind :p

Happy days! :D

I'm surprised it hasn't got a clip to clip onto the larger connector. All I can think of is cable tie the end wire to the closest wire on the smaller connector, if that's firmly in, if you see what I mean. Although that seems like a right bodge if it's brand new kit.

Most i've seen are similar to this, like latching in.
