Hi I recently got a 5450 XFX 1g and when plugged in I am getting "no signal" on my monitor. I have tried two different monitors so I know its not the monitor, I had a 7800GT in my system before and not had problems with that. I've place my 7800 back into my system and it still works fine. So the PCI-E port isn't blown/ damaged.

I have also thought that maybe the card is buggered, but I have tired it in another system of mine and work works without any problems.

So any ideas about what could be causing this, or how to fix it?

oh yea
Mobo: Asus M2N-E/AMD AM2
GFX: XFX HD 5450 1GB SDDR3

Did you clear all the nvidia drivers from the system and install the ati ones?

Does it require pcie power and was it connected?

Was the card seated right?

Also does the motherboard have the latest chipset drivers installed? And does it maybe need the latest bios if you haven't already installed it?

No because im not even seeing the boot (flash page) screen appeare nevermind reaching windows. and don't yet wanna risk things in windows.

Doesn't have ports for extra power.. appears its getting all its power from the mobo

Tried reseating it a few times, can't seem to see anything wrong with that end of things :( i have noticed forum posts where other ppl ahve seen this problem with an older version of this card, but there were never any solutions posted unfortunately...

Drivers are installed but like i said, its not even showing the boot screen.. i can't even get into BIOS. as for the latest BIOS drivers, i have to say im not sure... havent tried updating it so its possible it might be out of date. might give that a try later tonight

Run the add hardware wizard in the control panel.....

Iv seen something similar but with other divices.........

Never with a video card tho

with the new card in? that would be impossible as I can see anything so the monitor isn't displaying anything else besides "no signal"

The monitor may be set to a particular input... thus given a no input signal.

See if you can change the input its trying to detect, ie it may be set to vga, and your plugging in a dvi cable, so its not detecting the vga, and giving you a no signal message.

tired it with a monitor that only supports VGA and the same monitor with this gfx works on another machine..

Someone susgested updating BIOS.

does anyone know how to update bios using DOS?

Go to your motherboard manufactures website, there your most probably fined instructions how to update your mobo bios.

Be warned, if it goes wrong which is highly unlikely, it will render your computer unbootable!

Just giving you the heads up.
