Hi, I have a Denon AVR-X2000 and have been using it with my previous Samsung TV.
My Samsung TV didn't have ARC so I was using an optical lead to attach and it worked fine.
I have now just bought a Sony Bravia X85C and set it up but couldn't connect to my Denon amp.
My new TV does have ARC and I've got the HDMI in the right slot in the TV and I have turned on HDMI control in the Denon Video Menu.
I've also selected Audio Speakers over Tv speakers in the Sound menu of the TV - but no sound coming through my amp.
What is strange is there is no sound even when I plug in my optical lead from the amp into the TV which was previously working with the old Samsung TV.
Can anyone help or suggest anything? I want great sound for my new TV! Thanks in advance.

I presume sound comes out of the speakers when you go in to the amp setup?

My Panasonic has two HDMI connectors that hard ARC and in the menu you have to tell the TV which one to use.

Maybe the Sony is similar?

I bought exactly the same amp recently, using it with my Samsung H6400 and currently not getting ARC sound either.

Mind you, I'm still waiting on delivery of the remote so haven't gone through any of the setup menus yet. It works fine playing sound from my Sky box or PC but nothing from the ARC even though it's cabled up properly. The option on the TV to use 'AV Receiver' as sound output is always greyed out, so I wonder if ARC needs to be enabled on the receiver some how.

Will be interested to see how you get this resolved, likewise I'll let you know if I have any luck once my remote arrives

Hi, thanks for your help.

Sound comes out of the speakers during Amp setup, but no sound from TV. Only one ARC connector on my TV.

In my Bravia Sync Settings menu I have Bravia Sync Control set to On.
But in the Bravia Sync Devices List my Denon AVR-X2000 does not show up in the HDMI devices.
I am able to send out an 'enable' signal from the Bravia Sync menu but it just says no devices found.

unless you fixed it, i'd get the amp to tv via optical working first as you know it worked with your previous Tv.

as for arc, recently helped my dad with a soundbar and the manual for it said you needed an arc compatible hdmi cable, had a look around and all i could see was that it needed to be hdmi 1.4 rather than hdmi 1.3.

not sure if it makes any difference as i set him up via optical rather than hdmi.
