HELP! Noob question. How do I install ....

an Akasa 120mm casefan? It comes with a set of screws and four holes. However, the holes aren't threaded and I can only screw the screws a few mm into the plastic before it becomes very difficult and looks like it's going to crack or burr the thread. What's the score here?

Yeah just use brute force, they should screw in fine.

they will create their own threads as you srew them in.......thats just what they do.

Just make sure you have the exact right size screwdriver or you'll be swearing your head off at them.
(I do that all the time..... I have screwing in fans)

I normally screw them into the fans once outside the case.

make sure you use a decent screw driver...i didn't, and during the course of threading 3 fans i blistered the skin of over half my fingers

they're fixed now though

I think its worth having a half-decent set of tools, in particular a few with big oversized/easygrip handles. My main screwdriver is a 15" long phillips with a magnetised tip (obviously don't use this for fitting hard-disks!).

I know what you mean about screwing the akasa fans in, they make a real 'creaking' sound as they go through the hard plastic (like somethings gonna snap!) but I just screw them in slowly and everythings fine

Lubricate the screws with a bit of washing up liquid if they are being difficult.
