Hi folks.

So im undertaking a project this week whereby my outhouse is now becoming me and my sons man cave. The wireless signal will obviously be no good for PC gaming. So im planning on running a cable to the outhouse. Now once I have the cable in there ill most of the time have my PC plugged into it. However everyone now and then ill require a 2nd pc or PS4 connected. So for this is it worth investing in a router? Or would have these do the job just as well?

Im unsure of the pros/cons between the two..any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

If you run a cable form your current router to the outhouse, then yes that little switch will be fine for plugging devices in.

However if you go for something like any of these - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/peri...s/cable?ckMin=1699&ckMax=4933&ckTab=0&sSort=2

Then you can connect your wired devices and also have wireless out in the outhouse for phones and tablets (you would just, turn DHCP off, set the wireless to match the normal wireless and connect the cable from your current router to a lan port on the new purchase).

DHCP will just be a tick box to turn it on and off (99% of the time). As long as you know your current SSID and password then you just ensure the one on the new kit is set as the same thing. Should take about 1 minute to complete both things.
