Hi guys,

ive overclocked amd systems, but today i got an e5200 and dont know where to start lol.....

The multiplyer seems to be stuck at 12.5, cant lower it??

I wanted to lower it & up the fsb...G.Skill8000 ram & Abit IP43 Intel P43

I have a good cooler (sythe) so im ready to go, help!

Does it not highlight when try to move the curser.
You might have to keep the multiplier at 12.5 and raise the FSB, you may need to adjust the memory multiplier.

You ought to be able to lower the multi, just not raise it. That said I've never used an Abit board, but I see no reason why it wouldn't let you.

It highlights ok, but does nothing when u press enter & wont let u type in that field.

It says on the 'help' right hand side, it cannot be changed whith speedstep enabled.....but I have disabled speedstep & checked it in bios, its disabled......

Strange, have you rebooted since you disabled speedstep.
Double chaeck you have disabled C1E & EIST.

C1E - Enhanced Halt funtion
EIST - Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology

Both are you used to enable and disabled speedstep.

Still cant get the multi to change:(

Anyone know what thei guy is on about, whats n/2?

"took me a little while to work out that the n/2 needed to be enabled to get the 12.5 multi"

Another thing that maybe related is uguru that came with the board, it installs but when u run it no information shows up & nothing works.......

Have you got the latest bios for your board? The E5200 is a recent release and your board may need a bios flash to recognise it properly.

Just out of curiousity, how would you do a motherboard flash without even being able to get the cpu to work if you didn't have another handy that you could do it with?

Wait that was me, i had to sign up to the forums just to reply. Ive been reading the forums occasionally for a while now :P

yeh my motherboard doesn't by default to 12.5 multi. it defaults to 12, took me a while to find the n/2 setting that allows you to add the extra 0.5x.

i have an xfx 650 ultra fyi.
