help ocing phenom x2 550 be

it currently at 3.59 Ghz (205 x17.5) on stock voltage.
ive seen/heard loads about 3.8-4.0 Ghz. how can i get it there?
cheers :)

Using the search is a good way to start...also there is a good phenom clocking thread on ocuk i belive that gives a fair bit of detail
you will need to up the vcore to oc more

1) Up the multi in small increments
2) Perform a 10-20minute stress test (watch your temps**)
3) If it passes test for 8 hours in prime95
4) If it fails either test you need to go back and up the vcore* +0.025v or so and retest.

*Vcore shouldn't go over 1.55v (I'd not go over 1.5 if you intend to keep your chip for any length of time)
** Temps shouldn't go above 62

My chip goes to 3.8Ghz at 1.425v but won't go to 4.0 for love nor money :)

well using amd overdrive's auto tweeker thingy it takes it to 3.92 ish... (218x18) @1.45v but then when i set put these values into the bios it craches and i can only manage about 3.6Ghz
is occt a good enough test to be using?
currently the temp stays around 34 degrees after 1hr at full load!!!

i had similar probs with amd overdrive,it seems the only true o/c is in the bios, i hav given up on aod,i can only get 3.75ghz and no higher, tried o/c both ways, o/c my fsb to 250ghz or just the multi, hav u upped the northbridge at all? might b worth a try!

1** Temps shouldn't go above 62
the max temp is 70c for a 550.

also keep your eye on the overall CPU temperature not the core temp...

this is what i got from amd:

Dear Gareth,

Correct, as long as you are within the voltage and temperature guidelines you are ok. The temperature that should be monitored is the overall CPU temperature, not the core temp.
