I recently upgraded from a 980Ti to a MSI 1080 Ti. My 980 had both a HDMIand a DVI so the risft was connected to the HDMI and the TV to the DVI using a DVIto HDMI adaptor.

However the 1080 had no DVI. So Iconnected the TV to the HDMI and the Rift to a Dipslay Port to HDMI adaptor from Maplin - https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-displayport-to-hdmi-adapter-a32xb.

However I am getting no output to the VR headset. If I connect the TV,ising the Maplin cabe, the TV displays fine but max rez 1080

Any thoughts, isit the cable or somit else?

As that display port adapter only supports 1080p it won't work with the rift - the Rift display is essentially 2K. In any case it's best to connect the rift to the HDMI socket on your graphics card. The solution is to get a 4K DP to HDMI adaptor for your TV.
Is there such a thing? And if so then why would it not work with the Rift
