I've just installed my new OCZ Platinum 2gb ddr500 ram. Basically i cannot overclock my machine now as before. Using the old 1.5gb of ddr333 the cpu would run happily at 2.5ghz with a divider of 133 to set the ram back to ddr333 over the fsb increase to 250 x 10.

With the new ocz I can get the same overclock by setting the divider to 133 to make it run at ddr333 but it will not overclock at ddr400. It will post at standard frequencies but will not even take a htt of 220 without the bsod.

I have set the timings manually and left them on auto with no difference. I have set the ram voltage to 2.8v as labelled and also left it at std with no difference.

Can anyone help and also how do I get the ram to run at ddr500? The largest memory divider I can select is 200 which means it would only ever run at ddr400 anyway and there isnt an option to not select any at all.

Please help.

ddr400 just means that the ram will run at a 1:1 ratio with the hht freq so therefore the ram will run at whatever you set the htt freq to. So therefore set the htt freq to 250mhz the htt multi to 4 (200x5 or 250x4 = 1000) and the ram will run at ddr500 assuming your cpu can cope with the overclock.

Solved the problem - flawed bios again. I had to try 4 different bios revisions until I found 1 that was able to run with the correct settings. The most recent bios for my mobo defaults to a cpu multiplier of just 5 and wont let you change it and overvolts the cpu more than what you set it to.

Basically problem solved.

Cheers.
