Meant to order a Q6600 , ordered an e6850..... senior moment [actually the same price caught me....].

However, the "HELP" bit. Should I stick with the 6850 or correct the order to the Q6600?

Plan to keep this chip for 2 years [my average]. Usage is general PC stuff and play games.

It will be AIR O/C'ed and I had planned on at least 3.2ghz

I have read of water 4ghz on the E, cant seem to see many AIR O/C's on either Q or E.

Cheers

Read comment left on stores comment section for E6850, he has 4GiG on air and I do not class any Zalman CPU cooler as good.

Thanks, that one was one of the "not many".

However, do I stick with my errored order, or correct it to the Q6600?

Got till 08:30 Monday....

Will you use it

Well I guess the only person that can answer it really is you ... I think the Q6600 may be more future proof once the software world catches up to the hardware. At the moment 90% of software incl games can't even use the dual cores, never mind 4. In the next 2 years I am sure the development will catch up quickly, but who knows where we will be by then ?

If you like to fold, or benchmark etc as well, then the Q6600 might be better in the long run.

Personally, the brag factor of having 4 cores would inch me over to the quad.

However, one thing to think about is that OC'ing a q6600 to over 30 gig on air won't be easy as they are much hotter than their dual core cousins.

A lot of people idle at around 40 - 45 so imagine what load is like

also you have to remember that the 6850 is a 1333mhz fsb chip whereas the q6600 is an older 1066mhz chip so in that respect you could say that the 6850 is a more future proof chip.
