Help - old software, can't reinstall

Hi Folks
I run a very bespoke piece of US made textile design software "Fashion Toolbox" that I bought in 2011. After a complete hard drive failure I tried to install the software again but it displays a different registration # to when I first installed the software. When I enter the unlock code provided on purchase this doesn't work. The problem I have is all the contact details I have for the software developers are dead despite their website is being active. I have tried to obtain or buy another unlock code, even offering to buy the software again but all lines of communication are dead. It's pretty basic software but essential so I'd appreciate any help on how I can get it running again. Maybe some clues to how the software installs or locks itself would help? I must stress that we have bought this software!
A long shot I know but any thoughts would be appreciated

I'd have to guess that the registration number is randomly generated by the software on installation or when it's run the first time, so that number might be in the registry or in a file in the directory the program is installed in (or elsewhere) so it might be able to be altered or you might have to remove all trace of the program from your computer and install it again to see if the registration number does change (I can't give any further help since I am only guessing as to what might be happening).
 
Hi Demonix. The registration number is randomly generated, if you move or copy the program folder, remove it all together and reinstall it generates a new reg number. I've searched everywhere including app data temp files but no luck.
