To belt and braces it I would use them if I wasnt using a full cover block. You are right though. Its sold as seen and if you are right, its not doing the job.

Not arguing with you, but in the same sense, there are CPU coolers that are sold as heatsink only with no fans included...If the Kraken really does need heatsinks added then surely it's being sold not fit for purpose.
Ocuk sell the card with the kraken installed , are heat sinks installed on those cards?
I have a Kuhler H60 on my 290X using the more DIY solution of a bracket and cable tied fan. As long as you have heatsinks on the VRMs you'll be fine but I still have problems with VRM temp when you go above about +80mv on the voltage. It's not dangerous but I wouldn't run that voltage day-to-day.Not arguing with you, but in the same sense, there are CPU coolers that are sold as heatsink only with no fans included...
But I honestly think NZXT should really include some sinks, even if it mean upping the price by may be £5.
I am not exactly comfortable reading this thread, considering I myself is in the process of soon installing the Kraken G10 and H105 onto my 290x. Lucky for me I already have the sinks for the vrm and vram. Gonna have to fingercross on that...
No i didn't manage to get temps for VRMs, however the card felt cool to touch after the second crash, cooler than when the original card was running on air.
The Kraken has a 92mm fan blowing over card as well so I would have thought temps would be ok
as I've not read of anyone having major problems with temps, certianly not after only a few mins of running at load.
I've been building PC's for over 25 years so like to think I know enough not to kill two GPU's so quickly,
& installing a bracket & cooler isn't rocket science so can't see how I would get it wrong twice.
