Okay, budget at the very most is 300 quid, although i really wouldnt mind being a bit below that. All i need is CPU, mobo and RAM, have an x1900XTX which doesnt me fine just now. Currently running on a single core s939 Athlon 4000+ and a gig of ram, its really suffering in vista x64.

what i have come up with is:

I know it looks like quite a random choice of mobo, but according to customPC its the best bargain mobo around, can overclock like hell and performs just as well as well pricier mobos.

What i need help on though is the RAM. If anybody can point me in the direction of decent RAM, preferably not too pricey, that would be great, cheers :)

i picked the IP35 as i have the IP35 pro and thats a very good OCing MB
pc2-6400 RAM is fast enough to take a q6600 up to 3.6GHz without being OCed, giel ULL is highly recommended here
AS5 incase you need it, remove if not needed
tuniq tower for keeping your quad cool, ermove if not needed

cheers, exactly the kinda thing i was looking for :)

Idiotic noob question though, Im pretty sure im going to hang onto the stock cooler on the cpu for a month until my next pay packet and then upgrade to something lke the tuniq, but will i still need the arctic silver 5 right now?

yeah but u could get the tuniq now and save the fiver postage as u have hit the ftree postage bracket, even dont get the as5 now and get that later as the tuniq comes with paste

the artic silver 5 will not be needed with the stock cooler as it has its own thermal paste pre-applied, however spare thermal paste is useful to have around as you never know when you may need some
