Ok thanks, how do you think it would handle BC2? not sure if he will get that but i know he likes Battlefield games.

Right ok then, 5670 it is i think, not sure on what resolution he will be playing on, he hasn't had a PC for a few years now, and i've always used 1024x768, but his HDTV is 32" so guessing a higher resolution would be better?

TBH im not too sure, we bought it a few years ago now, im guessing it's just HD ready but can't be 100%

Ok thanks for that, i don't think it will matter, he's not very technical, he'll just be happy he's got a PC to play on.

This is good option, i think people look beyond the 5670HD. I bought one as a replacement card and i cant believe what it can run for the money.

I have ran BC2 on it, you dont get the best fps in the world but will defaintly average around 35. If your not too concerned about having FPS over 60 then this card is great, Idle power is next to nothing (15w i believe and 75w load) so doesnt require a 6 pin power connector either.

Thats good to know, do you think the pre-built system will run better than the system i spec'd earlier though?

Yeah i was going for the pre-built because of less hassle, but if the one i specced will run better then i'll get that, just means ill have my brother whining at me to sort it for him lol.

I think i'll stick with the X3 as the budget is pretty much at the limit, i think that will do him though, he's not into anything too processor heavy, just the games i listed and maybe something else in the future and if needed can always be upgraded a little when the time comes.

Thanks for your help :D

Just a check that the above is all that is needed to build a pc, except monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers.

Will be ordering in a few hours so just making sure i don't miss anything.

Ah yeah im getting windows 7 aswell, forgot to mention that.

Well that's great then, im sure my brother will enjoy this.

That card will be for me, i have a tagan 480w which i'm hoping will work fine? if not then ill just get a hd5770 instead then.

just checked and my PSU is a TG480-U15 i couldn't see any spare pci-e 6pin's free but it is modular and i have the cables available, so should i go for the 5850 or just the 5770?

Order is placed, went for the 5770 in the end, will post back once i've got both systems running and let you know how they go.

Also big thanks to Hybrid, helped me a lot today mate.
