Help on Building a New Rig

Hoping for some pointers...decided today to look at upgrading my rig. The reality is scratch start.

I have a Powercolor X800XT, which I was thinking of keeping hold of for as long as it lasts. So I thought about the following

ASROCK 775 VSTA Mobo
Intel Core 2 DUO E6400

Not sure what to do about ram, I've got 512 of Corsair PC3200

Any suggestions on ram please, whats the best I could go for?
Was maybe thinking about shoving it in a Zalman HD160

So whats the quietest HDD I could go for...

Samsung Spinpoint HDDs are supposedly very quiet.

What kind of budget do you have? And what's your intended use for your new rig?

geil memory meant to be the best, cheaper than corsair but just as good

Dual purpose really, my wife wants one of those dvd recording hdd boxes, and my computer needs upgrading. The computer would be for games...

I'd want to be running things like total war - medieval II.

Samsung Spinpoints are VERY quiet. There is on in my brothers computer and you can hardly hear it.
