Evening All

Few years ago was big into pc gaming but with work commitments and family i slipped away,

But i am now back with bit more time on hands

I am looking to spend about £850-£900 ish? on a gaming pc

Looking to play games like

Battlefield Latest
Call of Duty Latest
Watch Dogs
Grid Autosport
Titanfall but my current spec plays but lags like hell

Current Spec:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Display Memory: 4095 MB
Dedicated Memory: 1013 MB
Shared Memory: 3082 MB

As you can see a bit outdated,

Could anyone point me in the right direction for a Gaming machine possible of all this and maybe bit more?

Heard good reviews on Nvidia 780 But also ATI R9? but i think I'm just behind on the times to go ahead with a new machine without some advice first :)

Any advice welcomed

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum, Daz.

Anything else you could re-use, other than Windows 7? What PSU do you have (specific model not just the wattage)? What speed is the RAM and is it DDR2 or DDR3?

Cheers.

Okay, so new RAM and if the PSU has a few years, probably better to get a fresh one.

About Windows 7 Ultimate - do you have a means of installing a fresh copy on the new PC? i.e. the original DVD, or other method.

Will prepare a suggested spec along with anyone else who chips in with their own.

Here's three specs to kick things off.

First spec comes with 250GB SSD, liquid AIO cooler, an R9 280X (more or less on the level of a GTX 770), and CrossFire capability with a 750W PSU so you can add a second 280X if you wish.

Second spec comes with 120GB SSD, air cooler, and a 650W PSU to run a single R9 290 (more or less on the level of a GTX 780 and far cheaper).

If you're going to stick with the £900 budget, and game on a 1080p 60Hz monitor, then I'd probably go for the 280X CrossFire capable spec, as a single 280X would be enough for that right now and 250GB worth of fast storage is nice to have. If you prefer Nvidia, you could get a GTX 770 instead for £20-30 extra.

Wait for other posters to spec alternatives, as there's plenty of ways of going about this. Hope this helps, though. :)
