I've had the game for over a year but never installed as I was too caught up in Battlefield 2.

I've never played a game like this and I'm slightly worried that I'll get overwhlemed learning it, then lose interest quickly.

I want to give it a fair chance without letting it get the better of me.

So, tips, advice, help etc is greatly appreciated!

Join a player corp. Goonfleet is probably the best corp in the whole game for newbies.

There's an Eve University Corp, specialising in helping out new players too.

Make sure you follow (and pay attention to) the whole of the tutorial - even though it does take hours, it's essential to get started imo.

Yeah join them, give me some more people to shoot at :)

Join a player corp and give it a month or two before making your mind up. PVP and you will be hooked.

get ingame
do the tutorial ALL THE WAY THROUGH
get into the OcUK chat chan.
get in player corp (ocuk etc)
get playin!

And this will be the first of a million times you'll be told this- train the learning skills! Makes for a rather dull few days at the start but it pays off.

Oh yeah, and feel free to enter a skill to train then leave the game untouched for a few days, you train whether you're online or not. Quite odd, but it's making my training to Gunnery level 5 a bit easier :) Start training, go to London...

Uhhhh I would have to say no to that. Join a player corp by all means but to be in goonfleet you need to have a Something Awful account. plus that and they are... cough... unskilled.

Try to get into one of the main territory claiming alliances, and train for an Assault Frigate. Specialized ships, good handling, great damage and a strong tank. Great ship for the newer players.

It may take you a couple of months to fully 'get' eve though.

Thanks for all the advice guys :)

I'll be starting on Friday night for a few hours then again on Sunday evening. Its the two days a week when I know I'll have quality time with my PC lol.
