I have a set of Cambridge audio s70's.

I am thinking about ether the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO AZUR 650A or the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO AZUR 840A V2

Obviously the AZUR 650A is much cheaper than the AZUR 840A V2, however I belive the AZUR 840A V2 to be a better amp and output of 120wats to match the speakers.

However what would be best? Would I notice a difference in sound between amps from the speakers?

Does anyone have ether of these amps and have opinions?

Cheers

Most probably not. I definitely wouldn't be spending £800 on an amplifier to power those speakers, unless you've planned a speaker upgrade in the near-future.

For what it's worth I have a NAD C326BEE powering some Tannoy F4 customs. I highly recommend this amplifier by the way.

Woah I just checked the price of it. £200, that's a steal!

Given that all the choices come from RS why not just go have a listen and let your ears decide?

Start with the NAD in to a pair of S70s. If you can't hear a substantial difference going up to the 650A then you know you've found a good match.

Totally agree an £800 amp is going to be totally wasted on those speakers, personally if you have that sort of cash to use I would flog the s70's add that to the £800 and buy a much better amp and speaker combo probably second hand. If you want to keep those speakers long term then I'd folow the other suggestions and audition some much cheaper amps as I've always found that it's best to have more of your budget in the speakers than the other way round!
