Hi all, long time reader first time poster :D

I am in the process of building myself a new system but sadly have been out of the loop for a little while.

The components i am about to purchase :-

-Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition"

-Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

-OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-9200 1150MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual ChannelDDR2 (x2)

-BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (x2)

-Thermaltake VA9003SWA Kandalf Aluminium Full Tower - Silver

-Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM

I have a 250gb sata2 hd and an Akasa evo 98 cpu cooler from old system (hoping for around 3 to 3.4 o/c on the cpu)

PS dont want to wait for the newer 780i chipset as the 680i has more support / forums etc (not oc'd in years so reading up on an older board is a godsend :P)

If anyone has any suggestions or anything stands out as not compatable please help :P

Thanks in advance :D

I wouldn't get such an old motherboard. SLi typically isn't worth he extra expense so better mobos can be had. How about the Abit IP35-Pro?

That case is way overpriced, but that' just my opinion.

That memory is massive overkill. You'll never get the FSB high enough to need that. Any plain old PC2-6400 will do just fine and save you a boatload of money. At 3.4 Ghz on the CPU you'd be underclocking PC2-6400.

Thanks for the quick reply.

wasnt too sure about the memory, thanks for that info.

But i am getting two 8800gt's so any suggestions on an sli board would be great :P
asus striker extreme worth the purchase after saving money on the lower spec memory?

Well, that is the SLi board to get. I just don't think getting two GTs is a good idea. I think it's much smarter to get one now, and another similarly priced card to replace it in 6ish months time.

At what resolution do you play?
