Hi. I have just spent the weekend attempting my first overclock. After reading the stickies and trial and error I have managed to get 3.4 ghz prime stable for 4 hours and 62C max temp. I benched before at 3dmark 11451 and after numerous tweaks I am at 14564. Using the bench in Everest I have gone from Read 5664 to 8574, Write 4714 to 7710, Copy 5159 to 8160, Latency 89.9 to 59.4, CPUQ 17145 to 24348. I forgot to take a screenshot of my 4 hours prime so I just re-ran this for 1 hour.

There are one or 2 Bios settings I was unsure what they did i.e. what to set them to enabled/disabled/auto/manual etc Can someone check my bios settings and advise:

1) Are they ok
2) Is my overclock ok for long term use
3) Is there any room for improvement

My system is:

P5K Premium WIFI AP Black Pearl Edition M/Board
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping CPU
2 x 2GB OCZ Reaper HPC PC28500 DDR2 RAM 5 5 5 18 2.1v-2.2v
Be Quiet 650 Dark Power Pro Power Supply
ZOTAC 8800 GT AMP Edition 512 MB GDDR3 700 Mhz Core 2000 MHZ (Factory Overclocked) Memory Graphics Card
Tuniq Tower 120 Heatsink/Fan and Artic Silver Paste
Antec Nine Hundered Ultimate Gaming Case with the 2 extra optional Antec Tri Cool Fans.
1 x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB harddisk
2 x Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB Hardisk
Samsung S203P/BEBN DVD
Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
Samsung 24" 2232BW

The overclock looks fine for long term use.

The only thing I would suggest is taking the CPU PLL, FSB Term and NB voltages off auto and setting them manually when you have the time to do so. Boards tend to add a bit too much when set to auto, tho it's not a bad thing as such. Other than that everything pretty much looks ok.

Hi,
I am new to overclockers can you tell me what is the max overclocking ocz 6004 i have a p5k premium with a q6600 i can get it to 3660 g is me holding it back air cooled
Regards munrouk

Cheers Cob, where would I obtain what the default voltages for these should be.

Do you think I should try and tighten my memory timings or even try 3.6 ghz?

PC6400 memory should be fine with a Q6600 to around 4ghz. Tho that depends on whether it's CAS 4 or CAS 5. But atleast 3.8ghz should be attainable.

Air cooling may be holding you back, or the chip may simply not be able to run more than 3.66ghz.

I'd say your memory timings are about as tight as they will go at 1133mhz. That's already a damn good memory clock.

The best way to find out what the voltages are atm is to use something like Everest or the ASUS software (AI Suite or Probe), then manually set them in the BIOS. The slowly start dropping them a setting at a time to see how low they will go.
