help on radeon 6950

Hi there i think the forum is full of thread about driver , but i could not see exactly what i was looking for, i try to solve aproblem , today i download the battlefield3 beta and say the driver version is 10.11 and i need 11.7 as minimum, now i found teh driver 11.9 in the amd website but ,as many time happent before when i dowload the blue screen and good bye to all my program cant get them back unless i clean install.
Now ny quesstion id is it ok to download only the driver or i have to download again catalisth and so , and second the switch on the card if i move it when the card working will save my setting, as anyone try this yet? thank you if you can help .

ATI are *****rs for drivers, always will be and always have been. I had problems with my HD5770. Driver would not install, my GPU overheating and artefacts all over the place even at stock!

Had no choice but to do a clean install of Windows 7.

That sorted it all out.
