i installed vista (64bit ultimite) on my new custom built gaming pc and every time i try to open an application for example cpu-z it says:

an unidentified program wants to acess your computer
dont run the program unless you know where its from.

cancel

allow

when i click cancel nothing happens but when i click allow the program opens any idea on how to get rid of this its really anoying me!

thanks all :)

Is it every application doing this, or just the ones who can modify the core of your ssytem?

Virtually everything on my pc runs without this, but everest and a few others, such as malwarebytes give this warning.

It is UAC in action, it is a good warning to get. If somethign dodgy runs you will get the same warning and it'll make you think if it should be doing what it is trying to do.

The prompt is normal, and the darkening of screen. And if you look at shortcut to program you will see a shield with four colours on it indicating that you will get prompted.

Don't know why cancel isn't working though. Should just close the prompt immediately and screen returns to normal brightness.
