Help: Online, searchable

How can I go about creating something very similar to the above. Drop downs to filter the results of an online database - one that is preferably very easy to update with new data (mainly: description and link out).

Is there a software package out there to make it easy?!

That could be easily achieved with a basic knowledge of XHTML, CSS, PHP and SQL. Not too sure of software packages but in all honesty if you have the time it makes sense to just learn the languages.

Making it look good is another thing

It doesn't have to look fantastic, just needs to be functional and easy to update the content.

Perhaps I need to just have a go, but some starting points would be great.

Just play and try things out, best way to learn. You'll need a server to play with PHP and SQL but you can download software and just do it on your own PC. I remember WAMP being alright.

I am on a bit of a deadline so learning isn't the ideal option. Will have a butchers though. Thanks.

Oh right, sorry. You looked into WordPress? I don't have any experience with it personally but it seems to suit quite a few people's needs.
