HELP! os x 10.2

hello

i have just been given a eMac os x 10.2 computer ( old type with the big monitor ) -

I have just paid for Microsoft Office Mac 2011

Will it work with this. As am new to mac i double click on the file that pops up when i put the disc in but nothing happens?

Taken from the Apple site regarding office '11:

System requirements

Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
Intel processor
1GB of RAM
2.5GB of free hard-drive space
HFS+ formatted hard drive (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus)
1280 x 800 or higher display resolution
DVD drive or connection to a local network (if installing over a network)

how do i update a mac? am new to all this. I have 10.2 can i download it and put it on disc and install it to 10.5.8

An eMac is an old PowerPC machine so it won't work even if you update to Leopard (10.5).

I've got an eMac (white, 800mhz PPC - 640mb - 40hdd).

Runs Leopard just fine, finding Leopard PPC on cd-rom however is not easy but is available else where.

Great for my mum to use. Office Mac 2004 would probably better suited for that machine.

*IF* you're able to install 10.5.
