Guys just bought a 780 Lightning, now I have done a little overclocking before but i'm not a pro by any means, I now these babys will clock high as i've seen loads of reviews. (i know about silicon lottery also)

I cant seem to get mine stable on even a slight overclock, Example: a simple +100mhz to the core clock will cause games to crash (this is not a temperature issue card never gets over 65/70 and fan noise stays low) so i'm guessing that it needs more voltage. I have a 850w psu so i'm guessing that will be enough. Problem i'm having is when i download Afterburner/Precision and use it for clocking there is no option to increase the voltage higher than 38mv meaning that i'm not going to be able to achieve anything really (this restriction remains the same when the switch is set LN2 mode).

Can someone please tell me how to overclock this bad boy as i'm going to get >30 in newer titles at 1440p if i cant. :D

(I understand that I overclock at my own risk)

Ok seems that I have somewhat solved this, I updated the motherboard bios, installed nvidia beta drivers and re installed Afterburner and it has now changed the Voltage increase limit on afterburner to +100mv (up from +38 max).

Stable overclock:
  • core +200,
  • mem +250,
  • power target 109,
  • Core Voltage +100mv
  • (normal bios mode without LN2 enabled)

The card now has access to enough power so direct x no longer crashes, temps rarely peak 65c
