Help overclocking 2500k please

I have a Z77X-UD5H and a decent air cooler.

My Ram is ~ Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Pro Series Red, PC3-19200 (2400), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 11-13-13-31, XMP, 1.65V

To get to 4.5ghz I have read it's just a case of increasing the multiplier?

Ideally though, I would like to get to 4.8ghz, so do I just up the cpu voltage to say 1.4v?

Some advice on achieving this would be super appreciated!!

As long as you can cool it. Just set 1.4v cpu vcore and bump the multi up 1x at a time and just run cinebench a couple of times then once it crashes go back down to previous speed and stress test it with a more stressful program for longer.

I've had 5 or 6 of these cpus and the worst did 4.7ghz and the best does 5.2ghz on 1.4v

You need to lock down vcore, if you just up the multi and leave the vcore on auto, then you risk the motherboard pumping silly volts though it

I'm sure you can utilise google to find recommended 24/7 volts for a 2500k, there are different schools of thought on whats safe though, so you will need to decide what one you subscribe to...

No not for sandy. People use to run 1.5v 24/7 under water with no issues for years. I ran a 2550k at 1.4v on air cooling literally 24/7 for about 18 months and it was fine. Only time it was off was maybe one day even 3 months to clean it out.

Also because they are soldered and small die chip they run really cool unlike ivy and onwards which all have had that crap thermal paste.
