Hi, Im having bit of trouble overclocking my e6300, i had a target of 3Ghz in mind; is this possible with a DS3 and corsair value ram?

The Max ive had stable is at 2.73Ghz (390x7) at just over stock volts

ive read the ds3 overclocking guide but it says o put vcore at 1.45v which is a bit high i think. My temps are around 45ish idle using tat.

can anyone give me a step by step guide (as im a bit of a noob) on what todo next?

edit: i also have a Akasa AK-961 cooler(would like better but low on funds)

Thanks ben

not bad you know! Just crashed at 420mhz :( Upped the RAm voltage and loosened the timings a tad now stable:) Try for 430 now (3Ghz) :D

Yeah ive got a DS3 cant find the RAm dividers anywhere, i hope there is somewhere :) CAnt get it to work at 430x7 crashes on startup :( same at 430x6 (2.5ghz) so i guess its my RAM :(

Yeah theres the option shall i put it up by 0.1v? Also quick question what is MCH seen the option a few times and wondered what it was (didnt want to brake anything)

Thanks Ben

2xFSB is the lowest RAM multiplier on the DS3.

Yeah sorry just realised that it was the RAM multiplyer :o Seems my CPU/RAm cant do the extra 10mhz:( Ive tried +0.3v on RAm, +0.1v fsb voltage, +0.1vMCh, 1.33ish vcore no go at 430mhz, but fine at 420 :( Strange

Thanks for all the help :)

Im on BIOS version F5, latest is F7 tried to flash and if said BIOS ID Error so i left if  I no longer have a floppy drive so if anyone knows how to flash my mobo with a cd etc that will be great ;)

- if you can get 2.94 stable then I'd have said that was pretty close to 3gig to not make any difference...

Yeah i know but 3Ghz looks nice on cpu-z :) nevermind im happy at 2.94Ghz

Thanks to everyone for the help, I borrow a floppy from another PC flashed to F7, still same although ive got a pretty post screen now and a few more controls.

Thanks, Ben
