Re-Educate Me About Overclocking.

I tried to overclock my rig a year or so ago with complete failure and had to reinstall XP once or twice, and I want to get more "OOMPH" out of my cpu, but I need to do it safely.

I have ASUS a8V Deluxe mobo with latest BIOS. I have Newcastle 3500, Artic Freezer cooling and 1GB (2x512) Geil Pc3200 Ultra X I think it is (certainly not the value stuff) in my rig.

I want to try and get it up to around 2.4 GHZ.

Could someone give me a step by step guide on how to overclock my CPU. I can play about with it for sure, but times it means I sometime lower *** speed on the RAm which isn't good.

Thank you very much if anyone can help.

Raise HTT (starts at 200MHz), increase volts as necessary. Also, use a divider for the memory to keep the speed down (otherwise it will increase 1:1 with the HTT), and lower the HTT multiplier to keep that below 1000 (starts at 5, as 5*200=1000).

Edit: not entirely true as it's a newcastle. I think the HTT link is 800 on 754, so starts at 4*200
