Gah!

Was using Asus updater in windows to update the bios to 1012 on my P5K-e. Erased and flashed ok but failed to verify. Tried to flash a few more times but it failed on erasing.

Now, try and start up Asus update tool and it it says 'Unable to detect ASUS BIOS' and hangs.

I don't want to restart as I suspect it'll be borked, at least at this point while windows is still running I might have some options??

Some help would really, really be appreciated at this point.

Does your board have the Asus crashfree bios on it. If so you can rescue it using the original bios on the driver disc. You just put the dvd in the drive restart and it should automatically reflash. If you don't have it then it's a good chance it's had it and may need an RMA.

Never, ever use Asus windows update. It's rubbish. Use EZ flash instead.

It does have the crashfree BIOS, sadly though it doesn't seem to be working. Doesn't get to the point of doing the checksum, on start the system powers on/off repeatedly on a 2 second cycle. :(:( RMA time by the looks of things.

And yeah, don't think I'll be doing it through windows again.
