Help! - P5K - Have I got something wrong here

Just built a PC around a P5K and I can't load windows XP; it gets to the bit where it asks "do I want to load windows or use the recovery consule", hit enter to load windows and the PC cuts out and re-boots:mad: I've tried disconnecting everything I don't need and it still happens.

P5K; E6750; 2gb Corsair XMS2PC5400 C4; Gecube 2600XT; corsair 520w psu; WD SATA 150 160gb hdd and LG DVD-ROM.

Bios 0603

Is there anything in the BIOS which I could have set wrong?

Not had this problem with my Gigabyte P35 and P31 boards.

Has anyone any ideas as I am :confused:

Does your version of windows xp come with service pack 2 included?

If not then that might be an issue, sp2 has in itself some fixes
and drivers and newer boards do not want to work with out sp2.

I had same problem as you did.

I sorted it by using windows with sp2 included, and it workd no problems.

You can slipstream sp2 into your older version of windows xp.

Thanks for the reply, the link is really useful as you correctly thought my XP disks only have SP1 on them - now I have SP2 on them:)

Unfortunately it hasn't sorted them problem, the PC still cuts out just after pressing the enter key and then reboots:confused:

I have now replaced gfx/hdd/DVD-ROM/memory and PSU with known working ones and it still cuts out. Looks to me like mobo or cpu; I know where my money would go -mobo;)

Vcore etc correct? I had too low vcore on my P5K Premium on first boot and it wouldnt load Windows.

I think it's some bad RAM, using some other but now I can't get any of the 3D2kxx benchmarks to run, as soon as I start them everthing just freezes:mad:
