iv Built a Pc for a mate, which boots & runs no problem untill you start to play games, where the pc completly freezes, no BSOD or Error Messages, which results in resting the pc with the power button.

The Pc has been Built from diffrent Pc's. i work in a computer recycling company, so iv manged to aquire the parts at a decent price.

Motherboard : Asus P5N-D
Cpu: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - 2.83 GHz Quad-Core
GPU: Nvidia GTX280 BFG

The above where taken from one pc
Below have been taken from Random Pc's

Ram: 5G DDR2 (mixed sticks from diffrent pcs with no stickers, so no ram speeds or makes)
HDD: Hitachi 1TB HDD
PSU: Corsair TX750w

and the Heat Sink & Case has been bought New

iv eliminated the GPU as being the crashing issue, as we manged to swap the card into another pc with another card, the GTX280 performed very well in the other pc with no crashes, where as the built rig frooze 20mins into sleeping dogs, with a gtx570, requiring a hard reset

Card Eliminated,

I dont think this is a overheating issue, The Heat sink has been put together following the instructions provided, tightened as tight as the bolts can be done, there is a slight bit of movment on the heatsink if pushed, but it carnt be tightened anymore , + it overly covers the cpu. but in general the pc runs quite cool,

so im going to say its not a heat issue, ?

its had 2 fresh installs of windows 7 in 32bit & 64bit,

The memory sticks are all different sizes & brands, there is 2 x 2G & 1 x 1G,
we have tested each stick individually in the pc, each stick boots the pc & pc runs fine, when a game is played it works fine for first X amount of minutes, then freezes & locks up,

Each stick of ram added after reboot, runs the game for a little bit longer, then freezes up, in the bios settings the ram timeing is set to auto, but i have read that the issue could be the ram timing is out, which could be due to diffrent brand/ sizes of sticks, but the issue still happens with one Stick in.

of the memory test's we've ran, they all come back saying the ram is fine

could it be a ram timing issue?

other things iv read online could be the PSU or MOBO,
not sure how it could be the psu?

The only other thing it could be is the motherboard, which how would i determine its that?

Since writing this, we had a freeze at the windows loading screen, but still confusing how its only mainly crashing on games,

Any ideas, dont really want to spend any more money buying more ram etc for it not to be the issue, trying to keep build cost to a minimum

Any help would be much appreciated :)
