Is my RAM Causing my PC to restart?

I have a problem with my PC and would appreciate anyone who can explain what is going on...

I upgraded my mobo and processor and RAM in November and as soon as I got the PC back home it reset itself!

I called the shop that installed all the parts and they said that if it happened again something may be faulty and to contact them... so I left it and a month later it did it again - random resets... It would just cut out and restart and sometimes the bios screen would be stuck and sometimes a long continuous beep would come out of the PC when it posts.

It would take 5 or 6 attempts before it was stable and didn't do restart again, so naturally I contacted the PC shop and they asked me to bring it in.

They had it for 2 days and it didn't restart or fail once when it was with them! they did hardware checks and everything showed up without any faults.

In the end they replaced the PSU and told me to see how that was - so I accepted that and took it home. A few days later it did it again - I recorded a video on my phone and emailed it to them and I never got a response!

Over the last few days I have woken up in the morning and found my PC (which I normally leave on overnight) has restarted and I get the "windows recovered from a serious error" message but nothing else has happened when I have been using it. Until tonight.

already it has cut out and reset itself at least 10 times at random intervals and it is becoming very annoying now!

On two occasions the lights in the PC case and on the Xi-FI soundcard I have were flashing while the PC restarted very slowly.

I can only think it must be the motherboard as they replaced the PSU and the flashing lights suggests power problems to me which can't be from a replaced PSU so must be mobo caused?

I would appreciate anyone who could tell me if I am right - at the end of the day if they do not replace the board I can take them to court for a small amount and get the money back BUT obviously I would hope if I contacted them they would fix it without any complaints. The problem is they told me they would not order another motherboard as they couldn't find any fault with it (or anything else in the PC) - well obviously there is a fault as the thing keeps switching on and off!

any help would be appreciated! Thanks. and for your information the shop that I am referring to is Diamond Computers in Hove.

If its still under warranty I would go back to the shop again. Or failing that have a chat to stranding standards. As for the problem, if they did change the PSU it could be the faulty ram, try a memmory checker.

I ran the vista memory test and it told me that "hardware problems were detected" and that "To Identify and repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer"

I do not know if it will give me more information when it finishes the test but I assume the issue is related to RAM as this is a memory test - so how do I know which stick of RAM is the problem if it is that?

I ran the memory diagnostic on vista (press F8 when restarting PC and select the tool) and it came up with there being a problem as I previously said.

I had two sticks of RAM so I removed the original RAM (as the PC restarted when I brought it back after being upgraded originally) and ran the test again - this time it came up with no error! So obviously the original RAM was faulty.

I will chase them up to get it replaced BUT was the RAM the cause of my PC restarting without warning? I mean I didn't even get a blue screen it just switched on and off randomly?

And could it be that the RAM was not actually faulty just as I had different speed 1GB sticks that was the cause?
