ok got a problem with my brothers pc can't think why this might be happening so am coming to your lot in the hope you can give me the answers i want to hear.
basically one day (about 6 months ago) it just decided randomly to stop working in that it will show the boot screen then when it tries to start running windows it restarts, then will do same over and over until you shut it down.
i thougt it could be a hard drive problem so we bought a cheap second hard drive and had problems installing windows on it (which we thought could be cd problems) as when it trys to start installing windows it will freeze. trouble is as it was 6 or so months ago i have forgot some of what happened but i thnik we took the hard drive out put it in mine and then was able to install windows.
now today we have got round to replacing the cd drive from one of the old pc's in the house and changed boot priority to cd then hard drive but unfortunately it says no internal cd drive so does the restart thing.
anyone able to guess what could be causing the computer to restart as soon as it tries to load windows? we are first presented with a "windows shut down incorrectly last time, choose one of the following, start normally/safe mode etc" so i assume it's reading this from the hard drive fine, it's once any of the options are chosen then it restarts.
