help-PC packed up!!

last night i switched on the PC, lights and fans are on but it just sits there and doesn't post!!

does anyone have any suggestions? i suspect hardware failure but i dont have any spare parts to aid in fault finding :(
 
erm..not sure what other info you need, spec in sig. :confused:

monitor comes on but no digital signal from PC..how do i clear the cmos? hard disk activity light comes on but no post...
 
should also say that although i know it doesn't rule it out, mobo and grphx card are only a couple of months old.
 
ok, i'll clear the cmos and since i have 2 sticks of ram i'll try one at a time.

i'll let you know how it goes :)
 
it turns out that one of the sticks of ram was to blame, so it runs now thank god :)

still getting freezing problems, its not the ram, it was still doing it with one stick of Ram, then again with a spare couple of sticks a mate had.

It only does it when playing games like oblivion, call of duty 2 etc, not while playing FM06 or surfing.

I've done all the usual stuff, i.e. scandisk, swaped drivers, etc. Is it possible that the grphx card is to blame?
