just installed a 92 mm coolinks fan on my thermalright hr-04 plus 8800 cooler, while i was there i put some as5 on my cpu and reseated m scythe ninja, also because the fan tkes up mor room i moved my sound card and my akasa rear exhaust to other slots, plugged everything in, and now when i turn on the pc it boots and i enter my password for vista and it shuts off :( could it be shorting out?

i have unplugged now the coolinks fan, my sound card and the akasa exhaust and still the same problems i have also cheked all the psu conections hdd connections and 3 pin fan conections

i am absolutely clueless

any help is appreciated thank you !

hmmm, it doesn't sound like a short, as with a short it generally shouldn't good up, rather than happening at a specific time.

have you tried booting into safe mode? Windows may be trying to load specific software or device drivers that's crashing as soon as you try and enter your user environment.
I'm just wondering if its something to do with device drivers for your sound card as you have moved it from separate slots, it may for some reason be trying to install it as a new device, so maybe you could try removing that and seeing what happens.

cheers for the help but i dont think its to do with vista now as i went into bios to look aroudn and after a similar amoutn of time it shut down again. i have already remove the sound card and graphics card eliminating them from the equation so all it could be is, the cpu, RAM, or mobo i think. any more ideas?

cheers

When in BIOS, have you checked the temperature readings? Maybe you got an air pocket trapped between your CPU and Heat sink or something.

will take a look later when im home from work, im really starting to hate the scythe ninja its almost impossible to push one of the push pin things through the board and when the fan is on it goes over the top of one of my dimm slots thinking about hammering it to pieces soon lol

that will be you're problem i've had the same issue.

you MUST take the board out of the case and fit the ninja there is always 1 pin that is a pain to get into place if its like mine.

should be clear of the dimm long as it doesnt have a bit heat spreader on it.

it is clear of the dimm until i put the 12cm fan on the side thats the thing that goes over my dimm. really annoying i am thinking of getting a new one, anyoen wanna buy a scyhe ninja? ;)

sry i didnt explain it very well, i meant to say on mine even with the fan on its still clear of the dimm, problem i had was actually fitting the fan.

Just wondering if you were using the different pair of DIMM slots? I know it wont make a huge amount of difference space wise, but it may be enough? *shurgs*
