hi all, ok so this morning pc was fine, switched off went to work. come back and its not booting into windows, yet i can boot into safe mode and boot into the other hdd which has xp.
its black screen and the first time it tired to boot i could see my arrow cursor but now its gone after restarting.

any ideas ???

If Vista, you could try booting with installation disc & run a repair :)

Did you apply any updates or install any (new) programs when last used?

nope, no updates, no installs, just a quick chat with the miss this morning then off to work!
will try to repair now see if it does anything.

hmmm, cant get the disc to run, does hte vista start up screen then goes back to the black screen.
i can hear hte hdd chugging away like its indexing or something like it does usually when its starts windows.

ok so i jsut tried to go back to safe mode and its stuck loading, ive done a check disk using the xp hdd and it says that the vista hdd is fine.
when it boots into vista its sits at black screen almost like showdesktop without any icons etc.
why does it always happen just when you think everything is how you like it. GRRRRRR

ok....got the vista disc working, done a repair but it came back and said nothing to repair!!
done a chckdisk thro xp and its all good.
ive looked in the program files within vista and cannot find anything to do with nvidia, so my guess is that somehow my graphics drivers or something have gone up the creek.
but how do i fix this without reinstalling vista?
