I am trying to get some text to have only outlines of each letter and the fill to be the layer behind it and not have any colour.

Anyone know how? :o

So you just want the text outline to be visible and everything else transparent ?

If so you could -

Type in your text
Hold cntrl key and click the image on text layer this will select the outline
Click the lasso tool and right click on the marching ants around the text
Choose save selection and give it a name
Then delete everything you dont need
Select the lasso tool right click and chose load selection
This will load the outline
Then right click and do stroke

Theres prob an easier way, hope that helps

Yeah :p

1. Make some text, in any colour.
2. Right click on the layer > Blending options > Stroke, do whatever you want with it, then press OK.
3. Set the layer fill to 0%

Yeah both useful, now I'm on to this:

I have the transparent text but the background needs to be gone so that just what is inside the transparent letters is shown, I am manually rubbing out the best I can (will take about 40 mins I think + mistakes), is there another way?

You could prob cntrl click the text layer then right click on it and choose inverse selection then press delete.
