Ok basically I'm about to inherit some money and want to use a bit of it to upgrade my current desktop and also to buy a laptop. Currently my desktop is used for some pretty intensive tasks and I do quite a lot of gaming on it (hence the upgrade). The student house I'm moving into next year will have wireless throughout the house and I want a laptop for convenience and portability. I won't be likely to play many games on the laptop so the graphics card isn't that important but I still want it to be fast, I can't stand slow computers!
I've been looking at getting an Apple Macbook or Macbook Pro, or possibly even the Macbook Air. The only thing is I haven't really ever used a Macbook before and so I'm not really familiar with them. Are they really as good as they are cracked up to be? My main concern with getting an Apple is compatibility with my desktop which is running Vista 64-bit. Will I be able to share files between Vista and Leopard? I will most likely be using the laptop for surfing the net, writing documents, downloading, and maybe the odd game or two. Considering the usage would one of the Macbooks be the best option or should I go for a Windows based notebook? If so what would you recommend? And which of the Macbooks would be the best for me to get? I'm flexible on the price but I wouldn't really want to spend much more than £1000 because I am likely to spend at least that upgrading my desktop.
Thanks for any advice.
