Hi overclockers.co.uk

for awhile when i turn on my computer it does not fully come on. You can hear it turn on, well everything apart from the graphics card as nothing is viewable. However when i turn off my PCU via switch/unplugg for approx10secs and turn it back on its fine. Also i can turn on my pc see nothing, unplug it says windows was shut down unexpectidly and asks for safe mode ect ect.

Is this my PSU dieing or just not enough power? built this 2 years ago (upgraded graphics + mobo though)

are the power connectors plugged into the gfx card okay, and all mobo power connections secure ?

you don't list a hard drive, do you just have 1 connected ?

when you get a display go into bios and check the voltages showing for 3.3, 5 and 12v.
 
yea all connections are fine, just the 1 connected sorry. And will have to get back to you on the bios voltages
 
Well I can't say in your case that it is definately the PSU but I would advise that you try and swap it out to test it.

A friend had a similar issue quite some time ago, asked me to come look at it. When she tried to power on the pc to show me the PSU burnt out. You could smell it had gone bad......so bad infact it took the mobo with it.

I'm not trying to scare you but if you can borrow a PSU to rule it out, sooner would be better than later.

Completley agree, trial and error is the only way
