Hi,

First time poster so please be nice :D

I thought it was about time to upgrade my PC from an Athlon 3500 to a new dual core Athlon x2 5200, so after consulting the official supported CPU list for my mobo...

So I thought I'd buy my self a ada5200iaa6cs from Overclockers...

The order went through like a charm, but when I open the box it's not a ada5200iaa6cs it's a ado5200iaa5do, which isn't on the list of supported CPUs for the AM2NFG-VSTA :eek:

So what do I do ? from the specs..

..the mobo will support the frequency etc, but do I risk trying it or should I return it to Overclockers :confused: ?

I'm a bit confused about what to do, your help is appreciated.

Thanks

Tiny changes to chips don't affect compatability. In fact, even a change from 90nm to 65nm on the AM2 socket barely did because nothing else changed. Willing to bet you'll be fine with anything non-AM2+ (Only some boards don't like the 125w chips, like 6000+ and 6400+).

I have 3 old AM2 mobos lying around the house, if you want to pay p&p I will quite happily give you one for free that will support your new CPU???

Let me know what you think, and if you want to go ahead I will give you my email addy so I can get your home address and whatnot...

::edit::

I have an MSI K8N Neo, an Asus M2N4 SLI, and an AsRock K10N74-1394, but I would like to keep the Asus and AsRock boards, you can easily have the MSI board though, it works fine...

Been running for a week now with no problems. Thankyou all for you advice and cheers DavyBoy for the offer but no problems with the mobo.

Thanks
