I've put together a new rig and for some reason I cannot yet fathom the floppy drive doesn't work, and I've got a corrupt install of Windows XP Home. So my question is, can I make a bootable CD-ROM? I've tried copying the files from my old computer onto a CD-RW and using that to boot, but it comes up with errors such as no USB drivers loaded etc., then takes me to the A: prompt, but doesn't accept any keyboard input. So my question is, how do I make a bootable CD-ROM?
Alternatively, can I reload Windows XP onto another partition (I've got 3 x100GB partitions labelled C:, D:, and E
. Can I load windows onto the E: drive, boot into windows (from the E drive) then delete the old corrupt C: partition from windows XP. Do I do this by simpling deleting the drive contents in windows explorer or (better) can I format the corrupt c: drive from within windows?
Finally, is there another, simpler way of formatting the corrupt C: drive so I can reload windows? This is driving me nuts and I'm sure there must be a simple answer, but I can't figure it. So over to you guys.....
Cheers G
