Someone please help me before I throw this pc out of the window. I have a A8N-SLI mobo

I have brought myself a Promise SATA 300 TX2 pci card as I have been expericing a lot of Event 51 errors.

I have followed the manual, reinstalled windows, used a floppy to install 3rd party devices, yet the card will not appear in my boot list, I want to stop using the onboard sata controller ports and put my hard drive onto the Promise card, but with the disk on the promise card windows does not boot, says:

A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Now either I am being compleatly think, but I was led to believe that I can boot windows from a controller card?

Under boot priority I ave the choice of:

Removable
Hard Disk
CDROM
Legacy Lan
Disabled

Under Boot-Hard disk drives

1.The Hard disk on SCSI
2.Bootable Add-in Cards

Please any help people can offer is apriciated.
