hi guys before we start just wanna say gotta go out to work in 30 mins but wont be back until ten so although i wont be able to reply im not being ignorant and appriciate any help you can leave .

right here we go kids were given a laptop yesterday it around 4-6 years old and tbh i dont think its hardly been used still had cellophane on parts of it lol.

its a toshiba satellite p100 240 with geforce 7600 go gfx (r they any good)

i just cant get the wireless lan to work from what i can gather from the person he took it to a shop to be upgraded to vista sometime back and never used it after that lol

the machine has an internal wifi card running the intel 3945 abg.

i booted the machine it found my router and connected fine but every time i open ie or firefox it comes back blank says page cannot be displayed,no internet connection.

ive downloaded the latest drivers for it for vista but they dont seem to work either

now heres the kicker the wifi must be working as it auto downloaded updates in the background and also let me check for more updates

i searched the net for solutions of which i found a winsock resolve and a dns flush both of these were tried to no avail .

i did find software on the lappy which relates to the use of a external usb wifi adapter also maybe im going to have to go down this route

but any help you guys might be able to give i will willingly try

thanks and sorry for the long winded post and im in a bit of a rush so excuse the lack of commas and fullstops lol

I think i had this laptop a couple of years a go, still working today as I gave it to my mate. Try using cmd and pinging a host, i.e: yahoo.com, see if you get a response.

if ya read my post above mate youll see i sorted it

it was nasty mr symantec/norton and its infiltrating machine all sorted now laptop is running sweet tbh with its dedicated gfx card i bet its pretty good now by todays standards
