Hi all

I have built a new rig designed to be my dependable.....completely stable computer for actuall working on.

I used an asus commando & E6700 and wanted a gentle overclock to maximise the value of my chip.

I've used a titan amanda TEC heatsink which is giving me excellent temps.

On BIOS 0902 I tested the board up to a max Overclock of 500+ easily & the proc up to 3.65ghz stable

However I wanted to back off from this so dropped my settings to 400x8

I was surprised to find it didn't boot. In fact it didnt boot between 400 + 420 but I have it up & running again at 427.

Like I said I need absolute reliability as well as overclockability so was this just a simple FSB hole or is this likely to mean an as yet undiagnosed fault within my system??

All comments welcomed

There's a strap change ~400 on Asus P965s iirc, possibly a bit higher in the Commando from what you're saying.
Sounds like it couldn't boot with the tighter strap & the higher fsb.
