Hi

I am having trouble getting dual boot (grub) working properly. Whats happened so far:

1) Partitioned HD and installed Ubuntu 9.10 (beta) on second partition (this was a week ago) - all installed fine

2) Win 7 arrived today and i installed that on the first partition - and as expected the grub menu doesn't work and it just boots windows

3) Thinking i then knew how to fix this i tried reinstalling grub using item 10 of this web page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275

4) Rebooted - no grub menu and it booted into Ubuntu (so now i can't get at my win7 intall)- so i have presumably done something wrong and grub is not reading the win 7 boot info

Any idea how i can fix this so i can get a grub menu to choose between win7 and ubuntu?

many thanks

super grub disk may fix this

post your menu.lst (you can find this in /boot/grub) and list all your drives (with their boot orders as in your bios) and their partitions (if any)
as ubuntu is working fine, you'll probably need a few additions to your grub.conf file to get windows7 working.

hih

i tried the super grub disk but it wouldn't 'fix' anything so in the end i just re-installed Ubuntu and that sorted it.

Does Karmic use grub or grub-pc or grub2 - i got very confused.

thanks
