any ideas please
cut long story short
my Gigabyte 570 SOC has been working just fine - no issues at all
(1) updated drivers to 326.X - driver failed installation, rebooted, and GPU not working at all
(2) fans on GPU at 100%, didn't work on 2nd pc either
(3) left overnight - and it started to re-work
(4) would not boot into Windows 8 - would hang and put monitor into immediate standby
(5) booted onto IGPU (3770k CPU) - could run the Gigabyte 570 fine via Lucid Virtu - games etc no issue at all- all good
(6) tried uninstalling all Nvidia drivers etc - thorough job, rebooted onto Gigabyte 570 - and black screen, crash, monitor into standby (this is on windows boot - bios worked fine)
(7) thought - perhaps the DVI ports aren't working properly and hanging the sysstem or something weird (only difference I could think direct from the GPU vs via LucidVirtu)
(8) installed on spare SSD - Windows 7 - alll good - installed fine, installed reasonably latest Nvidia drivers, ran Valley etc - all fine, ran at monitor native resolution of 1900 as well - so all good
(9) assumed therefore Windows 8 installation was borked
(10) finally had time this evneing to reinstall Windows 8 .. this is a fresh install onto a freshly formatted SSD - and same problem, black screen monitor immediately into standby
I'm typing this in Windows 7 - using the Gigabyte 570 - which is still working in games etc
why has it stopped working in Windows 8 ? I'm completely confused to see how this is possible. I fresh installed Windows 8 the first time months and months ago without issue so whats changed
how can a gpu work fine with a fresh installation of Windows 8 - yet now won't - yet works fine on a fresh installation, and with drivers installed installation of Windows 7 ?
note I tried setting PCI-E slot manually to 1.1 and 2.0 to no avail
any help appreciated
