Help please, I tried so many things...

Hello, okay here is the story first, I got these parts from overclockers recently:

HD-Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
MEMORY-OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2
MOTHERBOARD-Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 AMD 770 (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Graphics Card-Gigabyte GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3
PROCESSOR-AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core 9950 2.60GHz Black Edition (Socket AM2)

All recieved okay, I got a 500W JEANTECH power supply somewhere else (PC World), Hooked everything up inside the Coolmaster (Overclockers) case as instructed by manuals/common sense ect. It powers up fine-fans are spinning, coolmaster blue lights, power lights on front BUT nothing on screen, the monitor responds but goes to powersave almost immediatly also no POST beeps when it doesn't work, what I mean by this is sometimes it does boot up fine-One beep for everything okay, goes to BIOS, then can access windows (I have been able to install windows and everything else perfect) but after I shutdown the porblem arise again-power is running but nothing happens.

So does anyone have anything to say that can help me?

Firstly remove the name of the competitor ;)

It could be a few things, your board may need a bios flash to work with your CPU, your memory may not be getting enough volts

Have you connected all the power leads up correctly ( 24pin ATX, 4/8 pin CPU connector and the 6 pin connector to the GFX card ), only saying that as its easy to miss something, done it myself a few times :p

Have you checked each memory stick by itself?

Other than that, unless you have some basic memory which only needs 1.8v to test with or another AM2 CPU to test with then im not sure what else to try.

What are the specs of that PSU?

24pin ATX is connected
4pin CPU is connected
6 pin Graphics connected

Am pretty sure I have checked both sticks alone, I did so much of the taking in and out of hardware lol, I have even done the bare minimum method (CPU, motherboard, PSU, Memory, Power switch ect only) but I guess I will try one more time.

No other hardware to test with :(

Bennie you think the problem is my PSU?
what do you suggest for my spec?

is your ram rated 2.2v? most gigabytes have 1.8 default, so have to up the ram voltage uin the bios by 0.4

this solved my issues.
 
i know its a pain but i would take everything out of the case(inc the motherboard) and try running it on a table, just to rule out any shorts with the motherboard and the case.

Lasttime i had something similar to what your describing it was my powersupply that was up the duff so i would see if you can borrow/beg/steal one from someone and try that.
 
That doesn't mean it supports all of them.

It clearly states on the Gigabyte specification page that that motherboard doesn't support the 9950 X4 or the 9850 X4, as indicated by the N/A next to them.

Seems to support up the 9750 X4 and below.

However, since you've gotten it to boot, that website may be entirely wrong.
 
doesn't take long, just unscrew the lot, leave the psu and hard drives in the case, and put the motherboard on a piece of cardboard (like motherboard box) and try it there

10 mins max!

Actually it's not that bad. From the specs it seems similar to one i have had for 4 years and is still going strong. It's only used for bench testing now but it has powered my main rig with no problems. It is solidly built and quite heavy. The biggest problem is that the fans can be quite loud under load.
 
Mm, so I guess I need to change the motherboard or something? Lot of you are telling me to do things that require the comp to be in the BIOS screen but I can't even get to that cause it won't POST, and have tried bare minimum/outside the case method.

The bit that really gets to me is it has worked a few times when it wants too, I have even installed a bunch of games and software, which makes me think PSU problems as maybe it is getting just enough power sometimes to boot correctly.
 
got an old graphics card lying around you can try ?

but to be honest rma that powersupply just doesn't sound stable to me.
