help please, is my new gtx780 faulty

Hi all, I received my new Evga GTX 780 classified 3 weeks back, first thing I noticed was all the text on my desktop was not as sharp as it was with my ati card, in fsx with certain inspector settings I improved it a lot but it still was never as sharp as the ati, I then decided to do a fresh windows install. I created a bootable dvd with Samsung magician to secure erase my ssd drives but when it launched I couldn't read any text , it was a complete mess, I tried changing from the hdmi port to dvi and then vga but all gave the same un readable text. I had to plug my monitor into my igpu port on my mobo to perform the task. So have any of you come across this do you think the card should be returned or am I missing a setting in the bios somewhere. Thanks.

What Mobo do you have? and what monitor are you using?

Are you running the latest BIOS on your motherboard?

Yes I updated the bios after I got the card as my original bios didn't have the gen 3 setting. It is now there.

The only symptom you mention is things not looking as sharp.

Did you check you're running at the correct resolution and refresh rate?

In windows yes , resolution and hz were correct but Samsung magician works outside of windows and launches on a reboot after the bios post screen, on that screen text is completely garbled, I have a photo but dont know how to post it up.

That's.. not right at all.

If that's launching outside of windows it's not using the drivers, so it should realistically not have much that can go wrong with it.

I did some googling and seems others have had the same issue with the Samsung Magician. I couldn't see a valid answer but I am confident it isn't your new GPU or monitor.

Mmm, thanks for the replies guys, I'm wondering why it would display fine going through the onboard gpu but not through the gtx780.

Well I am well into my fresh install of win 7 64 bit and when I installed the intel graphics driver for I gpu windows would no longer boot, I tried two times and got the same results.
