My PC keeps dropping the internet connection periodically 
It will drop the connection for several minutes and then just right itself
When it drops the connection the network will show as being fine between PC & network but will show the dreaded red cross between the network & internet and it will show access as 'local only' instead of 'local and internet'.
Clicking on the red cross for the diagnostics will more often than not mean it rights itself and says it's unable to find a problem but occasionally even that won't work.
This has been happening dozens of times a day for a few weeks now.
Set up is a follows:
PC running Vista Home
Virgin Media cable broadband
Vigin media 'Ambit' modem
Netgear 'Rangemax' wireless router
I've eliminated the router as causing the problem as it stll persists when I take it out of the loop. I guess that leaves the modem or my PC/Vista but I'm loathe to shell out for a new modem if the problem is with my PC/Vista!
Any ideas as it's driving me crazy
