My 13 year old daughter has been using my very old i7 920, 6GB of RAM and Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Motherboard build with a GTX-960.

Tonight the low-rent PSU blew up. I sourced a replacement (EVGA) but unfortunately the machine won't boot. MB Lights come, fan spins, but it won't post and there is no video output. I tried an alternative graphics card and the same result. I'm pretty sure either the MB or processor must be fried. It's had a good innings..

She's taking it well at the minute but maybe she doesn't yet appreciate the enormity of the situation yet.

So I'm looking for a replacement MB/CPU/RAM combo. Roughly equivalent in terms of performance without going nuts cost wise. She uses it mostly for Youtube, browsing, homework and a bit of light gaming (1080p).

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The I-3 6100 is good for gaming at 1080p unless you want to go for an I-5 but i wouldnt get the 6400 its got a lower clock speed than the i-3 which can outperform it in many games.

Looks good. However, the system already has an SSD.

Will I be ok with the stock cooler?

Will be fine but there always noiser than custom coolers, i would just see how it goes.

Agreed, I've been using a stock cooler on my 4690k for mostly gaming with a bit of streaming video, it's pretty quiet and hasn't caused any problems but I would suggest looking at a better cooler down the line.
